Devas, in Hinduism, are celestial beings that control forces of nature such as fire, air, wind, etc. In Hinduism, it is often said that Brahman is the only Ultimate Reality, and all Devas are the simply mundane manifestations of him. In Buddhism, a Deva is one of many different types of non-human beings who share the characteristics of being more powerful, longer-lived, and in general, living more comparatively than the average human being.
